Siren 2024-2025
Siren’s are a mythological creature dating back to ancient Greece. They were fabled to have lived on an island and to have lured sailors to their deaths in dangerous waters with their irresistible song. I focus on the subject of androgynous beauty, it is shown in my work with fluid, non-confining visual elements of the male and female, and the complexities of human emotion. My work in this series addresses what I believe a modern day Siren is; powerful, sexy, and dangerous. The seduction (the song) that the subject’s in my work possess, is a metaphor I have created to illustrate how these figures are restricted into a singular theme, challenging societal views of female allure.
